Home Decor and Gifts Boise Idaho
While there are dozens of chain furniture stores in the Treasure Valley filled with hundreds of couches and tables and lamps, transforming a house into a home takes a personal touch. A new house is just good bones; you have to fill it in with heart and soul to make your home, well, home.
And by "heart and soul," we mean mid-century couches that beckon you to relax after a long day of work; antique bookcases to hold a lifetime's worth of tchotchkes and novels; a stately dining table designed to hold decades' worth of family dinners; the perfect lamp to tie your living room together; and whatever else catches your eye and suits your personal style.
To help you find everything from big-ticket items to unique finishing touches, we've compiled a list of our favorite locally-owned, Boise-area furniture stores and home decor shops, and what makes each one distinctive.
Echelon Fine Home
1404 W Main St, Boise, ID 83702
(208) 906-0500
If the idea of coordinating furniture, patterns and styles seems overwhelming, Echelon is here to help. Owner Amy Foster Davis has an incredible eye for interior design, beautiful products that range in style from mid-century replicas to contemporary classics, and a capable team that can help guide you through the conceptual design process.
The store itself is filled with beautifully designed nooks – a small dining room scene here, a cozy tea corner there – that give you a taste of what your home could look like.
Feather & Twine
3107 W State St, Boise, ID 83703
This is the place to go when you're shopping for finishing touches. Step into this thoughtfully curated gift and housewares shop and you'll find yourself surrounded by items you never dreamed existed but suddenly cannot live without. Think rustic shelves, seagrass bowls, 101 candle holders, and unique gifts for all seasons – like a beautiful wooden nativity scene described as having a "Picasso meets mid-century meets boho vibe." Make sure to plan ahead as open times for this local shop are limited.
The Merq
9225 W Chinden Blvd, Garden City, ID 83714
(208) 991-2601
If your style runs to one-of-a-kind vintage (and vintage-inspired) conversation starters like antique marquee signs and luxurious velvet couches, The Merq is for you. As self-described curators of "good junk," you'll be hard-pressed to leave this quirky, welcoming shop without redecorating a room or two.
Chf Home Furnishings
104 S Orchard St, Boise, ID 83705
(208) 343-7769
It's difficult to have a bad buying experience at Chf, but if it happens, don't be surprised to be contacted by a member of the family-owned furniture, mattress and appliance store personally to make things right. Their dedication to customers has made it one of the largest furniture and mattress stores in the Treasure Valley since 1953. In fact, thanks to their superior customer service, loyalists who have moved across state lines have been known to journey back to Chf just to furnish their new homes.
They also carry many high-end appliances in stock that you can't find anywhere else in the valley, making it a favorite stop for customers who have exclusive brands on their list.
Ricochet Home Consignment
5777 N Glenwood St, Garden City, ID 83714
(208) 321-7500
This quality consignment store has everything from modern to mid-century furniture pieces, all so gently used you'd swear it was new. Best yet, if you have the perfect piece in mind that you just haven't been able to track down, their employees will keep their eyes peeled for you. Who couldn't use a few personal home shoppers on their team?
Antique World Mall
4544 W Overland Rd, Boise, ID 83705
(208) 342-5250
With over 300,000 square feet of space to explore and more than 160 vendors, this antique mall makes flea market aficionados feel like kids in a candy store. You'll find every style and time-period under the sun here, from elegant Victorian to rustic farmhouse-style furniture, luxe copper and gold home decor, vinyl record collections and trinkets that take you back to childhood.
Hyde and Seek
1521 N 13th St, Boise, ID 83702
(208) 914-6146
"Whimsical" and "eclectic" are two words that describe the treasure trove of items you'll find here, from retro brass spaceship-shaped clocks to giant angel wings and intricate stained glass offerings. Hyde and Seek takes its name very seriously – be prepared to linger, and delight in this North End store's orchestrated chaos.
Boise Art Glass
1124 W Front St, Boise, ID 83702
(208) 345-1825
Nothing makes a home glow from within quite like a colorful handmade glass sculpture or chandelier. Even smaller items, like brilliant tumblers and delicate glass bowls can help anchor a room. If you don't find what you're looking for, this artist-owned shop also takes custom orders. It also offers glass-blowing classes so you can create a work of art that perfectly showcases your new skill – and vibrant personality.
Boise Vintage
3412 W Chinden Blvd, Garden City, ID 83714
(208) 949-9034
If you're on the hunt for lovingly restored mid-century modern furniture, look no further than Boise Vintage. Specializing in the rare, beautiful, and fun, this store routinely showcases pieces from well-known designers like Norwegian industrial designer Fredrik Andreas Kayser and celebrated Scandinavian manufacturers like Vatne Møbelfabrikk. You can also find other gems from the 50s-70s, including retro teak credenzas, elegant Danish nightstands and the occasional Preway fireplace.
Ennis Fine Furniture Co.
275 S 23rd St, Boise, ID 83702
(208) 342-3664
With timeless classics that will never fall out of style, and design consultants eager to help with all aspects of space layout and color coordination, there's little doubt why Ennis has been in the furniture business since 1946. Three generations later, all six Ennis children are still carrying on their family legacy of delivering fine furniture and personalized customer service.
Sevoy Furniture Gallery
650 E Fairview Ave, Meridian, ID 83646
(208) 884-4599
Operating under the motto, "the best is barely sufficient," Sevoy has become synonymous in the Treasure Valley with excellence. Here you'll find exquisitely preserved antiques, hand-selected and shipped straight from Europe. While a number of time periods and furniture styles are represented, Sevoy specializes in mid-century modern furniture that looks like it came straight from a 1950s showroom floor. In the attached art gallery, you'll find modern paintings displayed alongside vintage brutalist metal art, and more.
You can expect to pay a bit more at Sevoy than other local retailers with similar stock (Boise Vintage, for example). Still, we think you'll agree it's worth it.
